Has God abandoned us?

Even if it seems so, God has and never will abandon us. His love is consistent and everlasting.

His greatest gift to us is our free will, one of the four inherent components of our souls, which are: imagination, memory, intellect and will (Catechism of the Catholic Church or “CC” 1703-1705).

God is the Cause of all that is good. We are made in His image and likeness (meaning we are endowed with a rational soul with the four components named above), separating us from all other creatures. Therefore, we are good.

Evil that exists is a lack of a good, whether caused by ourselves, others or catastrophic accidents in the world–all are products of the fall of mankind in the beginning.

God is faithful.

“God, who creates and maintains all things by his Word, provides men with constant evidence of himself in created realities.”

from The Dogmatic Constitution “Dei Verbum” of the Second Vatican Council, “Christ Fulfills All Prophesies.”

Turn to God in your afflictions.

Though we suffer, God in the flesh endured all forms of suffering first by taking on our afflictions and our sin in every way, so that with Jesus, we could have power over sin and death and be reconciled to God.

How am I reconciled to God?

Despite our sufferings, with our cooperation with His continual outpouring of Grace through the Holy Spirit and the sacraments, we can reach perfection and make it home to heaven.

Proof that God has not abandoned us: Jesus suffered and still suffers with us and in us.

“It is he who endured every kind of suffering in all those who foreshadowed him. In Abel he was slain, in Isaac bound, in Jacob exiled, in Joseph sold, in Moses exposed to die. He was sacrificed in the Passover lamb, persecuted in David, dishonored in the prophets.”

-St. Melito of Sardis (death c. 180)

My blogs

In my blogs I will strive to provide proofs of the existence of a personal God and His everlasting love for each one of us individually.
