Bodies matter
The Christian knows–since Jesus Christ became fully human (while still retaining His divine nature)–that the body is significant to one’s identity as a child of God.
Therefore, what one does with his body matters.
Denying the reality of either the biological and spiritual nature of a person would be like trying to stop the sun from rising and setting: One can block the rays of light but he cannot deny the sun’s existence.
God does not make mistakes
Since God is God, it is inherently against His nature to make mistakes.
Nor does He contradict Himself.
Nor is He a jerk.
So who do we suppose is lacking when one makes the claim that God created more than two sexes of human beings, who are made in His own image and likeness? (Gen 5:1-2).
This incoherent fallacy certainly doesn’t lie on the side of God.

The evidence
Thankfully, neither does the science lie, because science is merely evidence of a greater reality.
One can examine expressions of human “maleness” or “femaleness” at the cellular level from the beginning of human life, beginning at the fertilization of the ovum by the sperm. Within the zygote contains its complete genetic code, which is separate and distinct from the mother and father’s DNA.
The sex chromosomes within the DNA are either XX (female) or XY (male). Other genetic anomalies that may occur within the sex chromosome are extremely rare.
Almost all developing pre-born babies have bodies that possess either male or female genitalia with the production of the appropriate hormones necessary for development.
Though rare genetic anomalies do occur, this does not change the reality of the two sexes in human beings, and their distinctive differences.
For instance, a mother’s body makes a different formula of breastmilk for a male child than a female child. The chemical composition of her milk is naturally suited for the sex of her infant, suggesting the sex of the baby is not accidental or meaningless.

The bottom line
The evidence for the reality of the two sexes of the body prevents, therefore, one from simply “choosing” his sex through emotional or psychological identification with a particular (or several fabricated) “genders.”
This desire cannot come to fruition because it denies the reality of the body.
For example, a male who receives hormonal drugs and surgical interventions to reconstruct his body to “turn female” may look female, but he is still a biological male with mutilated genitals and taking hormones and/or hormone blocking agents.
When one denies or mutilates either part of his humanity (in this case, the body), he will never be truly happy.
God wants to live inside the soul, so one can have full possession of his body, and therefore, possession of true freedom (Pope St. Leo the Great).
Victim or victor?
The Transgender Movement wants to transform one into a victim (in this case, a victim of the body).
The Christian God wants His sons and daughters to become victors.
Whether male or female, the important thing is, the Christian possesses the ability to “house” God.
By living inside one’s soul, God empowers the Christian in ways the Transgender Movement never could: to shine brightly within His Christians, making Himself known to the world by their humility, service, forbearance of others’ rottenness, forgiveness, discernment, wisdom, self-control, understanding, integrity, courage, peace, joy and true freedom.

And nothing or nobody else in this world can offer that.
Pope St. Leo the Great, who with your wisdom and gentleness convinced Attila the Hun not to attack the city of Rome in 452 A.D., pray for us on your feast day.
